Nutrition today

In recent years, overweight and obesity have become major, international public health issues.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 35 % of all adults worldwide are obese or overweight. According to the WHO, 39% of adults were overweight in 2016, and 13% were obese. Worldwide obesity has nearly tripled since 1975.

There are two main causes: diets which are too rich in carbohydrates and fats and our increasingly sedentary lifestyles. Our bodies are no longer using up all the energy that we consume as food!

Although it is impossible to change some of the factors involved in overweight and obesity, such as genetic predisposition, it is now possible, particularly with individualised help and support from healthcare professionals, to adopt a healthier diet and make lasting changes to eating habits.

The aim is for everyone to regain a healthy weight at which they feel well.
